Primitivo Sosa, 27, allegedly had a dispute with Celso Jimenez-Lucero, 31, behind St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown on Sept. 4. During the fight, Sosa allegedly wrapped a chain-like object around Jiminez-Lucero's neck and dragged him before beating him. Jiminez-Lucero was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler said.
“Violence has no place in our communities,” Hoovler said in a statement. “Those who resort to violence to settle disputes, even if they do not use weapons, must be held accountable for their actions. Everyone, including those without home, is entitled to be free from violence. I commend the City of Middletown Police Department for their investigation of this case."
Sosa remains in Orange County Jail on $500,000 cash or bond. He is due in court again on Oct. 17.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Janine Kovacs.
